Please join Quixotic for an immersive experience at the Quixotic Headquarters! Enjoy interacting with professional artists, experiencing the joys of movement and music, and participating in a small group session of your choice. The day finishes out with a special performance by Quixotic artists! This is an adaptive half day workshop for students with physical, medical, or cognitive impairments.

While all participants will experience the whole group warm up, you will select your individual session workshop. See below for descriptions of each session workshop. Please remember, youth participants must be between the ages of 7 and 14. Please plan to arrive about 15 - 30 minutes early to check in.

Station 1- Black Box
***Please be advised this session involves interacting with sound and light, and may not be suitable for those sensitive to bright lights or sound.***

This 40-minute experience in the “black box” offering students the chance to engage their senses through interactive sound and light. This experience begins with a short performance piece featuring a Quixotic dancer in the interactive projection cube accompanied by a Quixotic musician. Students then have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in a “show and tell” of some of Quixotic’s unique instruments and other ways to harness light. Finally, students will have the chance to sit inside the projection cube and create some of their own sound and light experiences.

Station 2- Costume and Theatrical Makeup
Join Quixotic behind the scenes with a tour of the costume shop and a “show and tell” of Quixotic’s unique costumes, headpieces, and makeup. Students will have the opportunity to work with Quixotic’s artists to create their own headpieces to take home and can choose to participate in or watch a fashion show wearing their handmade headpiece and/or one of Quixotic’s accessory options.

Stations 3- Music & Movement
Explore a sense of rhythm and movement with some of Quixotic’s diverse dancers. Through the use of props and improvisation, students will find new ways to feel as if they’re part of the music. Students will gain awareness for varied rhythm styles as they create inspiration for movement. The session will use the dance studio to play with open space individually and in groups.
