The Whole Person

The Whole Person’s (TWP) Adaptive Sports Program is working with adaptive sports programs across the metro in order to provide diverse and inclusive play opportunities at competitive and recreational levels for people with disabilities living in the greater Kansas City area.

By working with participants to overcome physical and cognitive challenges in a supportive environment, TWP's programs show participants their possibilities and assists them to reach their fullest potential, enriching and transforming their lives through sport.

TWP feels that through adaptive sports, participants have the opportunity to meet positive role models, increase socialization skills, improve self-confidence, self-worth, physical fitness, decrease anxiety and depression, have less health risks, develop life-long skills and friendships.

Adaptive Cycling - TWP

Join The Whole Person for adaptive cycling! On select Thursdays from 3-4 pm, we will ride together at English Landing Park in Parkville.

RIDE TIME: 3:00 PM - Sign Up no later than 12:00 PM the day of the ride.

Riders should be ready to ride at 3:00 pm, this means, helmets on, water bottles filled, and ready to go. It is suggested that all riders get to the park at least 15 minutes early to get their bikes downloaded, and ready to ride. TWP will have two riding groups, experienced (faster paced) and recreational/beginner (slower paced). Our Cycling Group will bike with rest time built in for the full hour.

RIDERS:

All riders must sign the TWP Wavier (Missouri Wavier or Kansas Wavier), sign up on Zen Planner and reserve a spot, and have a helmet, and their own water bottle or water source while riding.

RIDERS WHO NEED TO BORROW A BIKE:

Riders who need to borrow a bike for the ride, please note that TWP will do its best to find a bike that best “fits” your ability; however, we cannot guarantee a bike for all riders due to selection and stock. It is your responsibility to contact us and reserve a bike 24 hours prior to the event and reserve the bike that you feel you need, using the link at the bottom of this page.

If you reserve a cycle, TWP will transport the cycle to the park for you.

RIDERS WHO NEED TO BORROW A HELMET:

Riders who need to borrow a helmet for the ride, please note that TWP will do its best to find a helmet that best “fits” your head size; however, we cannot guarantee a helmet for all riders due to selection and stock. It is your responsibility to contact us and reserve a helmet 24 hours prior to the event and reserve the helmet that you feel you need, using the link at the bottom of this page. YOU CANNOT RIDE WITHOUT A HELMET.

NEXT STEPS:

1. All Participants must go to our website to sign waivers. Please do this before participating. You will also be asked to sign a TWP waiver at the event.

2. After signing the TWP waivers, please go to thewholeperson.zenplanner.com, click on "sign up" to create an account, and then reserve your spot.
